Khalsa Montessori School offers the opportunity to learn and grow in a collaborative community of educators who are dedicated to the Montessori education ideal of “peace through education”.

The school is a non-profit that offers a tuition-funded private Montessori early education program, a publicly funded K-8 charter school. Khalsa was founded in 1976 and now serves 350 students. The school is committed to Montessori in the public sector, peace education, diversity, building community, and supporting wellness with an emphasis on social-emotional learning and mindfulness.

Ideal Khalsa staff and faculty are dependable, nurturing, and experienced in providing quality care to children.

“Khalsa Montessori School is a public charter school, and has figured out how to navigate the pull of state requirements with the traditions and values of Montessori education. We follow the pillars of Montessori education: three hour work period, Montessori trained teachers, three year age groupings, Montessori materials in the classrooms, the prepared environment, and child-driven instruction.

There is an overall spirit of unity–everyone pulling toward the same goal–among the staff. The admin team exemplifies the qualities of non-violent communication and peace making that Montessori teachers strive to teach their students. I have worked at several Montessori schools over the years, and Khalsa is by far the best work environment I’ve encountered.” –Leslie W., upper elementary teacher
