  4. Extensions & Activities

Montessori Upper Elementary students (4th-6th grade) are on the brink of stepping out into the wider world.  By the end of their Upper Elementary experience, they will be self-motivated, able to manage their time, and confident public speakers. They have had experience with collaboration in small groups, leadership, reaching consensus with large groups and conflict resolution.

Our core curriculum includes:

  • Individualized math instruction
  • Hands on science experiences
  • Technology Based Projects
  • Reading Zone Literature
  • Writer’s Workshop
  • Sexuality Education
  • Weekly Specialist Instruction: Spanish, Art, P.E.
  • Opportunities for Choir and Strings Instruction
  • Cultural Curriculum

Community is an essential part of the Upper Elementary culture.  Students lead many aspects of our community: weekly class meetings, fundraising activities, community service with younger students, and peer instruction.

In addition to our rich, Montessori curriculum, there are opportunities for field trips (day and overnight trips), visiting outreach programs, nature studies on our beautiful campus, and Project Week.
