History

Khalsa Montessori School has been serving Tucson’s families since 1976. Starting as a small infant and toddler school, we grew slowly with the encouragement of parents, and added programs to serve the needs of their growing families. In 1995, the State of Arizona adopted legislation to allow charter schools in the state. We saw this as a great opportunity to offer school-aged children the same nurturing, whole-child environment in which younger children were thriving. Starting with kindergarten and first grade in 1996, we added one grade per year, opening our middle school in 2002. The commitment of parents has driven our growth over the years, and our active Khalsa Community Organization continues to give energy and support to our many programs.
