Khalsa School Board Meeting and Public Hearing

Gurumeet Khalsa

Lulu Camacho, Head of School
Anne Ortiz, accountant (Zoom)

The public hearing convened at 4:05 pm. No members of the public were present so the public hearing was closed at 4:06 pm.

The Khalsa School Board Meeting convened at 4:06 pm

The Proposed Budget has not been changed since it was reviewed and approved by the board June 4. Board members were invited for any further discussion on the budget. Lulu highlighted the increase in teacher salary for FY2027 that appears in the budget and wasn’t highlighted at the last meeting. Gurumeet commended Lulu for the way the budget was managed for FY2026. Lulu expressed gratitude for her consciencious team.
A motion to adopt the Khalsa School Budget for FY 2027 was called for by Nirvair.
Gurumeet moved to adopt the Khalsa School Budget for FY2027.
Siri Atma seconded the motion.
Members voted and the motion passed unanimously.

Gurumeet commented on the challenges of working within the budget during the startup years of the school. Lulu responded that the school was financially strong when she took the helm.

Nirvair notified board members that the next board meeting will be in October and will include approval of the Annual Financial Report. Anne said the annual audit will be complete and the meeting could be scheduled for early October.

Lulu reminded members attending on Zoom that the budget cover sheet will be emailed to them for their docusign signature.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:14 pm.
